Lesson 1: Loosen Up

So, I finished my first watercolor class today.  It was a lot of fun!  The ladies in the class are really nice and I really like my teacher, Ken Austin.  He is very talented…I have a lot to learn!

The paintings above were done in an exercise to loosen up.  

Painting 1: We were asked to draw and paint two objects with one object touching one side of the paper.  We had 5 minutes to complete the exercise.

Painting 2: We were asked to draw three objects with two objects touching the sides of the paper, only painting the negative space.  We had 10 minutes to complete the exercise.

Painting 3: We were asked to draw and paint four objects, with three items touching the sides of the paper in 15 minutes.  

Painting so quickly was a challenge…and I have homework!  I’ll be posting a complete loose painting later this week.
