A little known fact about yours truly – I played the piano as a child. I took piano lessons for several years and abandoned it when I took up playing the flute in the sixth grade. I’ve always loved the piano. This piece was inspired by the many years I spent learning to play. And, if you have time, check out this time-lapse video of the process.

As the music series continues, I selected hands playing a guitar for my next piece. I even created a fancy time-lapse video to go along with it. See below. I love the moody look the shadows create in this piece. It will go in my next show, which is scheduled in May.

This piece is a continuation of my series of music themed paintings. I’ve already started collecting inspirational photos for the next several pieces. I struggled a little with the strings on this piece but learned a lot in the process. I used masking fluid for the first time in years and quickly discovered it was going to take some extra time to make the strings look somewhat realistic instead of a big white grid. Overall, I love this piece and it’s my favorite of the series so far.

As you can see, if you follow my blog, I ran out of time for several of my paintings for the 30 Day Challenge. Life got in the way and I had several commitments that popped up but I’m not going to let it get me down! I’m going to pick up where I left off and finish up a few ideas I have in the works before starting a new series I have in mind.

Here’s Emma, who inspired me on Sktchy once again! Check out the time-lapse video I created below. This piece took about one-hour to complete from start to finish.
