Harley

Commission
Watercolor on Paper
It’s always fun to bring a client’s idea to life. My dear repeat customer, Margaret, wanted to give her god daughter a unique gift so she asked me to paint her cat, Harley. We turned this portrait into a pendant so her god daughter can wear Harley’s portrait every where she goes. It was a fun project and painting dark (near black) fur is always a challenge!
Monarch

Watercolor on Paper
I took a photo of this butterfly while I was at Lukas Nursery with my boys a few weeks ago. We had such a great time! We went to their butterfly garden and the boys loved being able to “hold” butterflies. I love painting pieces that make me smile because they remind me of fond memories.

Commission
Watercolor on Paper
Sweet baby Steffi. This is a commission created for a client who gave me a photo of this sweet girl in a pumpkin costume. We wanted to create a timeless portrait that didn’t have a holiday theme so I added a pink bow and lots of flowers. I can’t wait for the parents to see it. I hope they love the new background as much as I do.

Commission
Watercolor on Paper
It’s commission season again! I’m so fortunate to have amazing clients who ask me to paint year after year. This is portrait #4 for a friend/client who orders custom holiday cards. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate her support. More commissions in the weeks to come…
Tabby Cat in Hot Air Balloon
11×14 inches
Watercolor on Paper
A couple years a go a nice woman from Pennsylvania found my artwork online and commissioned me to paint her tabby cat in a hot air balloon for her future child’s nursery. (She was pregnant at the time.) The new baby came and life got busy and we lost touch. I couple weeks ago, she followed up and said she was serious about moving forward with the commission and I was so happy to hear the news. This was a fun one! Whimsical and personal…I’m really thankful she trusted me to paint her sweet tabby cat.
Sidewalk Chalk
8×11 inches
watercolor on paper
Boy, did I have fun with this piece! It totally brought me back to the days of drawing shapes and words on the sidewalk with my babies. Now they are too old to want to go outside and draw in the driveway. This is my final piece of homework for this class term with Ken Austin. I’ve grown a lot in the last six week. He’s reminded me of the basics and how important composition, value, and color is. It’s been awesome going to class with my mom too. She’s a great artist and I’m so happy we could spend that time together. I hope he offers more classes in the future.
