I’ve been trying out some new colors and they are inspiring me to BE BOLD.  I tried some new techniques in this painting too.  I created this tiki by layering colors as they came out of the tube, without mixing the paints before they were applied to the paper.  Each color is layered over each other.  

I painted this from a physical tiki statue that we purchased on our first vacation in Hawaii.  I think I’ll be doing a color study of this same character in the future.  My brother and sister-in-law left for a vacation in Hawaii today.  Fingers crossed, they’ll be brining back some new photos for inspiration!
